ANTEQUERA & THE TORCAL

Landmarks & Limestone

Visiting the town of Antequera is a journey back in time of over 5000 years.

Roman baths, Moorish castle, Gothic churches, Renaissance fountains and Baroque bell towers dot the town and with it´s mix of modern cafes, ancient monuments and friendly locals, it is a wonderful inland Spanish town to spend the day in.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, the whole Torcal area was under water until 100 million years ago.

With unusual limestone rock formations, it is a wonderful area to explore with guided walking routes starting from the visitors information site about 1km from the village of Villaneuva de la Concepcion.

GRANADA

Alhambra & Architecture

Granada is just an hour away from Casa KiSi and is a wonderful place to visit.

With the world famous Alhambra Palace the main tourist attraction, and, of course, definitely worth a look,

you can also find lots to enjoy and experience in the city itself.

Wander the city centre and grab a drink in the many bars and cafes in the area.

The tapas that accompanies each beverage is fabulous! No need to order food.

Granada is filled with examples of Moorish architecture around every corner and due to it´s university has a great vibe.  Outside the city, at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and it´s ski resort, is Monachil,

with a great walking route if feeling a little more energetic.

MÁLAGA

Castles & Cathedrals

Malaga is just 30 minutes from Casa KiSi and well worth a visit.

Head down towards the port, park up and explore.

The imposing Baroque Cathedral is a great place to start just a short walk from the main shopping streets.  With loads of cafes and restaurants, you are sure to find a place to watch and enjoy the Malagueños go about their business.

Head to the Alcazaba palace and check out the Roman theatre, before venturing farther up the hill to the Castillo de Gibralfaro, a ruined Moorish fortress with stunning views of the Mediterranean.

Wander back down and head to the port for a stroll through the shopping area of Muelle Uno to finish your day.

AXARQUÍA

Pueblos and Playas

The varied places that make up the Axarquia region of Andalucia could quite happily make

up a complete holiday sightseeing trip of their own.

The inland towns of Colmenar and Riogordo, just a few minutes drive from Casa KiSi are great to visit, with the oldest venta in Andalucia on the way to the small town of Alfarnate, great to stop in for a coffee and tapas.

Head to the mountain town of Comares and literally feel like you are on top of the world.

Travelling down the stunning inland road towards sea level you come across the La Vinuela reservoir on the way to Velez-Malaga before hitting the coast and the town of Torre Del Mar with it´s beautiful beaches.
